We have endorsed the following candidates for the November 2020 election:

Dr. Linda Thor - Countywide 

Dr. Linda Thor worked in community colleges for 41 years. For 29 of those years, she was a college president or chancellor. She knows that the Maricopa colleges change people’s lives and are integral to the economic well being of Maricopa County. She is committed to quality, affordable, accessible education that meets the needs of the community and the workplace. She was elected to a four-year term on the Governing Board in November, 2016, and served as Board President in 2019.


Jacqueline is a higher education professional and advocate who currently serves as Vice President at the ASU Foundation for a New American University. She is a collaborative, future-forward problem solver who is wholeheartedly committed to access to higher education and student success. She appreciates the depth and breadth of the Maricopa Community Colleges' offerings from workforce development to dual enrollment to community enrichment and more. She benefited from a Fast Start program that enabled her to experience community college courses while in high school in NJ. She earned her bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics and law degree from Georgetown University. 


Susan is the Past Chairman of the Walter Cronkite Foundation, the Past President of the ASU Alumni Association, and the Honorary Chairman of the ASU MBA Alumni Council. She is a former Vice-Mayor and City Council member in the City of Scottsdale and was active as a Councilman in the areas of economic development, planning and zoning reform, and budgetary reform. She was a Republican candidate for Congress in Arizona's 5th District and is a past President of the Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board of Directors. Additionally, Susan is the former Chairman of the Arizona Corporation Commission.

After attending classes in the Maricopa Community College system, Tom achieved a BA in Psychology at Northern Arizona University followed by an MA in Educational Counseling, and then went on to achieve an EdD in Educational Leadership at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, British Columbia.  Tom worked extensively in K-12 and higher education across the US and Canada until he returned to Phoenix, where he has served the past 10 years as an Instructional Leader and Counselor in the Phoenix Union High School District. Tom’s K-20 experience as a teacher, teaching professor, and administrator has given him unique insight into the needs of a large Community College system like ours.
